Keller CARE is a research lab studying care delivery for older adults.
We use implementation science to close the gap between what evidence supports and what health systems actually do — testing changes that improve care, and finding ways to reduce tests and treatments that offer little benefit.
Across every project we ask who is being served well by the current system and who is being left behind.
Our work runs along three lines.
Equity runs through all of it. Our lab’s name carries it deliberately. Every project asks who the current system serves well and who it leaves behind, and whether the change we’re testing narrows that gap or widens it.
How we work
We work inside real health systems. Our studies run in clinics and hospitals with the staff who’ll live with the results, not in conditions we’ve engineered to succeed.
We study stopping, not just starting. Removing entrenched practice is its own science. Most implementation research skips it.
We publish what didn’t work. Failed rollouts and null results get written up. Systems deciding where to spend limited attention deserve to know what to skip.
We measure who benefits. Every project reports whether a change narrowed or widened existing gaps in care. An intervention that improves the average while leaving some patients further behind is a failed intervention.
