Choosing a dialysis access route is a consequential decision made under time pressure, often without good information about what each option will mean. These projects build a prognostic model for vascular access outcomes and identify what makes the decision conversation work.

Patient-controlled consent for health data sharing (iAGREE)
Status: Complete · Funded by: NIH/NHGRI R01HG011066 · 2020–2025
Patients are asked to consent to research use of their health records in terms that are close to all-or-nothing. iAGREE built and tested a multi-site platform that lets people specify what they’re willing to share and with whom, and studied whether patients and health systems would actually use it.
